Covered Composition Book

We've had a busy holiday.  The kids have been off school for a week and a half and I've loved spending time with them.  Santa came and went and we all got exactly what we wanted.  I needed a gift for my daughter's best friend.  She is an avid writer and I LOVE making hand made gifts, so I decided to make her a personalized journal.  I think she liked it.

My Digital Studio and a Very Merry Christmas!

Hmm...somehow this never posted!  I really dislike when that happens!  Better late than never!

I absolutely LOVE My Digital Studio!  The possibilities for this amazing software are endless.  I handmade over 35 cards this year, but for those folks who I don't have a snail mail address and all my Facebook friends and family I did a quick MDS card.  This literally took me about 2 minutes to create and I love it!

Autumn Spice and Day of Gratitude

I've been coveting the Autumn Spice Designer Series Paper and the Day of Gratitude Stamp Set since I first saw them.  I just didn't buy them!  I received some images in a swap of the Day of Gratitude stamps and knew I had to have them and although I finally bought the stamp set I still hesitated on the paper.  I'll explain -- I'm a hoarder!  I have so much DSP that I have a really hard time justifying the purchase of even more because once I have it in my hot little hands I can't bear to cut into it!  So, when the digital download for the Autumn Spice paper was released I had my solution!!!!  I immediately purchased it and printed a sheet with my Kodak printer onto some HP 6.5 mil everyday photo paper and it was STUNNING!  My kids couldn't even tell that I printed it from the computer!

Here is the quick card I put together with my new paper.  AND, I did not copy this one from anyone :)

Build a Bear Birthday

My neighbor's daughter turned 7 last Friday and I needed to whip up a card because, as usual, I did not have any birthday cards handy.  I'm going to say that the reason is that I like to personalize each card...yeah, I'm going with that LOL!  When the Build a Bear dies first came out I HAD to have all of them.  Now that I have them, I don't use them enough.  So I grabbed my Big Shot and the Build a Bear dies and threw this quick card together.

Sorry for skipping the supply list -- I'm on my way out the door.  I will add the supply list later.

My Very First Diaper Cake!

I have wanted to make a diaper cake for the longest time and was just so intimidated by them.  My bunco group is having a diaper shower for one of the girls and they asked if I would try one.  So, I took the plunge.  I searched blogs and YouTube and followed the instructions.  We don't know whether she's having a boy or a girl, so I tried to keep it neutral.  I think it actually turned out quite cute.
I used up some retired Designer Series Paper and buttons as well as some of the new ribbon in the 2010-2011 Idea Book and Catalog.  I'd love to hear what you think!

Free Pass for UStamp

For UStamp with Dawn and Friends Year End Blowout 2010, Dawn decided it would be wonderful for the designers to give away their free pass as a RAK (random act of kindness).  Our task was to go out into the blogosphere and find someone who we do not know on any level and give them a pass to this wonderful online event!  What fun I had browsing blogs and splitcoaststampers for inspiration.  I have to admit, this was a really hard task for me.  I am an avid blog surfer so many of the projects that caught my eye were created by stampers that I visit often.  The challenge for me was finding someone new.  I'm happy to say that I did just that.  I made a new stamping friend in Nancy Hendel.  She is super talented and when I contacted her via email was super sweet, too!

Here is the project that just WOWed me:

Isn't it just fabulous!!!  I just love it.

Delayed Products Now Available!!!

Great news! The Watercolor Wonder Crayons are now available for purchase. The Watercolor Wonder Crayons were delayed due to a relocation of the supplier. You can start ordering today!

When you receive your Watercolor Wonder Crayons, you may notice that some of the crayon sleeves feature old artwork on them. This does not affect the quality of the crayons; we simply need to deplete inventory of crayons with the old artwork before we use crayons featuring the new artwork.

Use the following item numbers to purchase your Watercolor Wonder Crayons:

120949 New Color Kit
119802 Subtles
119803 Regals
119804 Brights
119805 Neutrals
We are also happy to announce that the quality problems we were experiencing with the Fancy Flower and 2-1/2" Circle Punches have been addressed and resolved! These punches will be available for ordering starting on December 1.

Thank you for your patience as we work through these quality issues. We'll update you as soon as the quality issues with the 2-3/8" Scallop Circle and Ornament punches are resolved.

Neighborhood Ghouls

**I'm not sure why this didn't post.  I had it scheduled for November 25.  Oh well, better late than never, right!

I finally scrapped some of our Halloween pictures.  We have an amazing neighborhood and all the families get a long spectacularly.  This year a few of the parents took all the kids out while the rest of us stayed home and gave out candy.  I was able to get a group shot of all the kids and wanted to preserve it.  I still need a title, but all in all, I'm pretty happy with the way it turned out.

Extreme Guitar Birthday

Of anything, I have the most difficult time with masculine cards!  My son had a birthday party to go to yesterday, and as usual, I waited until the last minute to get the card done.  You would think that I would have a ton of cards piled up and ready to go, but no, I don't.  Especially not boy cards!

We started giving cash or gift cards a few years ago because it's so hard to buy gifts for kids these days when you don't really know what they're into.  I went to the store to get the gift card, but there was absolutely NO WAY I was standing in those holiday sale lines for one gift card, so I decided to just do cash.  I pulled out my favorite "boy" stamp, Extreme Guitar and proceeded to put together a money holder.  These are so easy to make and really only require one piece of 8-1/2" x 11" card stock.

I took a piece of Not Quite Navy, cut it down to 8-1/2" x 9" and scored it at 3-1/2" and 7".  Adhere the smallest flap down and you have a money pocket.  Easy peasy!

Supplies:
Not Quite Navy Card Stock (101722)
Whisper White Card Stock (100730)
Not Quite Navy Classic Ink (103008)
Not Quite Navy Stampin' Write Marker (100059)
Extreme Guitar Stamp Set (115328 - available in wood mount only)
Afterthoughts Stamp Set (Hostess Level 1 - Wood Mount 118388; Clear Mount 120121)
Just Jawing Stamp Set (Retired)
Sticky Strip (104294)
SNAIL adhesive (104332)
Paper Cutter (104152)

My Ustamp Project Has Posted

Hi everyone!  Wow, time flies!  I had no idea that it's been a week since I last posted.  I apologize for my absence.  Life is always hectic this time of year and this year is no exception.  To top off all the craziness, my husband has decided to retire from the military after over 22 years of service and about a year or so before we had originally anticipated so I've been a little out of sorts.  It's a very exciting, yet frightening, time for me!  We will be returning to the U.S. after living overseas for nearly six years and my kids are going to have to learn a whole new way of life.  It will be really nice to be near family again, though.

Enough about me, on to today's project!  My project for UStamp With Dawn and Friends Get a Jump on Your Jingle 2010 has posted!  I have had so much wonderful feedback.  I don't often come up with "original" projects so when I design for UStamp I have to put my creative thinking cap on.  I love the push it gives me to get outside my comfort zone and come up with something all on my own.  I'm usually just too lazy, so I CASE something.  After all, isn't that the sincerest form of flattery? If you like my project and would like the instructions, it's not too late to join UStamp.  Just click here and sign up now!  You won't regret it.

Just Believe in Thanks!

Last Halloween Share

My daughter has "outgrown" giving treats at school.  After all, she's in 8th grade!  My son, however, still enjoys giving treats to his classmates.  I participate in a demo only image swap over at splitcoaststampers and received a set of Batty for You images.  I requested them special so I could do some quick and easy treats for my son's class.  I can't say enough how much I love, love, love, the candy wrapper die in the Holiday Mini!  I didn't make these too fancy, after all, they were going to a bunch of 10-year-old 5th graders and we all know that the majority of these wrappers went straight into the trash as soon as they were opened and the candy was gone!

We had a typhoon on the Thursday before Halloween so I sat down and finally got these done!  I cranked out 28 of these babies in about 2 hours.  So much faster than if I'd had to cut them all by hand!

I have seen these planners all over the web.  I got my instructions from Melissa Stout.  I was absolutely amazed at how easy this was to put together and yet it has such a WOW factor!  I can see me making a ton of these, and not just for Christmas!
Rather than having to untie and re-tie my ribbon every time I wanted to get into my planner, I attached the left side of my ribbon with Sticky Strip and wrapped the ribbon around to be held closed with a magnet.

Morning Cup Slider Card

This fabulous card is an exact case of the card designed by Betty Traciak for UStamp Cards with Cool Moves 2010!  The only change I made was to complete the inside of the card.  Isn't it wonderful.

The cup mounted on the black scallop circle actually slides out and reveals a message underneath.  I forgot to take a picture of that part!  I must admit, I was really intimidated by this card, but once I got started it was so easy!  I will be making a ton of these!

September Thank You Cards

I like to send a thank you card to each of my customers who place orders with me.  I cased September's cards from a video I saw on Chic 'n' Scratch's YouTube channel.  She is awesomely talented.

This is not your traditional A2 card.  It is 4-1/4" x 4-1/4".  The great thing about this size card is you can still mail it in an A2 envelope!

Just Jawing Birthday

My daughter had a birthday party to go to last weekend and I just had to pull out the retired Just Jawing stamp set.  I was so sad to see it go.  It is one of my go-to stamp sets for pre-teen girl cards.  It is just so much fun.

This was a really quick card to put together.  It is very basic and just has layers.  To create the eyes, I used heat and stick powder along with some red glitter I had in my stash.

Giant Nugget Box

My fourth and final project for my October Stamp Camp is one I've shown before.  I found the instructions for this giant nugget box on Becky Roberts' blog.  She is one amazingly talented lady!  I decided to use the Delightful Decorations stamp set this time since we're coming up on Christmas.  I stuck with the retired Thoroughly Modern Designer Series Paper for a more non-traditional Christmas color scheme.
This was a special request from one of my girls.  I sure hope they like it.  I think they're going to be surprised how easily it comes together!

Wednesday, October 13, 2010

Here is the third project for my October Stamp Camp.  The new Candy Wrapper die in the Holiday Mini is my absolute favorite go-to die for a quick treat wrapper.  Is is so easy to use and only takes half a sheet of 8-1/2 x 11 card stock.  And it is so versatile!  You can use it for any occasion, from Halloween (as I used it here) to Christmas to birthday parties to wedding favors and the list goes on!

On this particular candy wrapper I chose Pumpkin Pie card stock which I cut with my Big Shot and folded using the score lines from the die as my guide.  I then ran the card stock through my Big Shot with my Spider Web Textured Impressions Embossing Folder.  Then I took one of our Stampin' Sponges and Basic Black Classic Ink and lightly rubbed it over the raised embossed image.  I stamped the Spooky sentiment from the Wicked Cool stamp set onto Whisper White and cut it out with the Large Oval Punch, which I then layered on a piece of Basic Black card stock punched with the Scalloped Oval Punch.  I finished the candy wrapper off by tying the ends off with the Raven 1/2" Lace Trim.

Supplies:
Pumpkin Pie 8-1/2" x 11" Card Stock (105117)
Basic Black 8-1/2" x 11" Card Stock (121045)
Basic Black Classic Ink Pad (101179)
Wicked Cool stamp set (Wood Mount - 118738; Clear Mount - 120600)
Candy Wrapper Bigs L Die (120890)
Spider Web Textured Impressions Embossing Folder (120889)
Scallop Oval Extra-Large Punch (119856)
1-3/4" x 7/8" Oval Large Punch (119855)
Raven 1/2" Lace Trim (120988)
